Painting from last night/this morning
Here's a piece I started last night in prep for for visual development for my pitch. I can' t really use it though since my pitch is set in autumn but is was good practise. I spent some time beforehand getting the drawing underneath properly structured which really helped too. I was trying to capture that dusk feeling when the sun is below the horizon yet the sky is pale and it bounces some light around.

Bird Girl Character Sketches
It's been way too long since I've posted, but here are some character sketches for the idea I'm developing for the pitch, working title 'Bird Girl.' The summary of the story is:
A boy discovers the girl that appears one morning in his garden is in fact a bird who then flies south as autumn ends.
The storyboard is slowly coming together, along with some layout concepts I'll post later. It's been the most time-consuming part of developing the idea so far. Hopefully it'll be done by mid September. I'll follow up this post with some more development notes in the next few weeks, and some posts about what influenced me and helped me develop the idea further.

Couple of recent speedpaints
I did these quick paintings today and yesterday evening, no more than 1/2 an hour on each. I prefer the top one.. very 'Victorian Christmas' ..or something. Warm colours all round really, I wanna do some paintings in the morning for balance too and different lighting..but whether I can be up for then remains to be seen... I WILL TRY.

Recent Sketchbook Stuff
Oh god I've not updated for a while. I won't get in a panic, though, it's not like I've ever updated frequently. Here's some sketchbook pages, with the ring-binders and everything, warts and all. I think Christmas means more proper location drawing. I'll fix that soon, hopefully. In the next few days I'll be uploading some recent life-drawing too.
edit: I realise the image sizes are pretty big, and people sometimes complain about that, but I like it that way, you can see drawings properly. It's not as if people are still using dial-up or anything. Tell me what you think.
